How the numbers work

Fitted prices, not estimates you have to chase

Every price on this page is the number you pay for a standard job on a standard twin-lamp car. That means an Australian delivered vehicle with removable housings, uncracked tabs and no previous electrical work that needs undoing. Most cars fall into that bracket. When yours does not, we say so before the housing comes out, and the quote changes once on paper, not four times on the invoice.

Bench time for anything outside the list runs at $95 an hour. That covers odd jobs like chasing a water leak into a boot loom, rewiring a fog lamp circuit, or fabricating a bracket for a housing that was never meant to hold a projector. Half-hour increments, and we stop and ring you if a job is heading past the first hour without a clear answer.

All prices include GST. Freight is quoted separately for parts orders and is flat rate across Australia, free once the cart passes $300. If you are outside the country, ring the shop first, because freight to New Zealand and the Pacific is priced per parcel.

What the quote covers

  • Parts, bench time and calibration in one figure
  • Old sealant removal and new butyl included
  • Wall test and road test at no extra cost
  • Written warranty terms attached to every invoice
Lens work

Restoration pricing

For lamps that still hold their shape but have gone yellow enough to waste light. Prices are per pair unless stated.

Single lamp

$130

One lamp only, usually after a knock or a stone chip. Sanded, polished and recoated to match the other side as closely as the plastic allows.

Standard pair

$220

Both lamps wet sanded through the grits, machine polished and finished with a UV stable clear. Wall test included.

Pair plus amber restore

$260

The standard pair, plus the indicator strip polished back to amber. Worth doing on Commodore and Falcon lamps where the corner goes dull first.

Pair plus ceramic coat

$290

Standard pair with a ceramic top coat. Costs a bit more up front and holds its clarity longer in coastal salt air.

Projector work

Retrofit pricing

Fitted in the Newcastle bay. Every option includes housing opening, reseal, beam calibration and a road test before you collect.

2.5 inch mini retrofit

$680

Per pair. The right choice for tight housings like older Hilux, Triton and BT-50 lamps where a 3 inch unit will not clear the backing panel.

  • Mini projector pair and shroud
  • Butyl reseal on both lamps
  • Beam calibration, wall and road

3 inch projector retrofit

$780

Per pair. Wider beam pattern and a tighter cut-off than the mini unit. Fits most ute and wagon housings from 2010 onward.

  • 3 inch projector pair and shroud
  • Canbus module where the car needs one
  • Beam calibration, wall and road

Full rebuild

$1,140

Per pair. New lens, new projector, new seal and repair of any cracked mounting tabs. Reserved for lamps that have been opened badly before.

  • Tab repair and re-tapping
  • New lens and full reseal
  • 24 month warranty on the work

Retrofit with OEM style shroud and bezel

$920

Per pair. The 3 inch job with a factory-look shroud and anodised bezel so the housing reads as original once it is back on the car. Popular with people who want the light without the obvious aftermarket look.

Quad projector setup

$1,520

Per pair. Four projectors across two housings, which means custom brackets and a lot of aiming time. We only take these on when the housing has room behind the reflector, and we check that with photos first.

Parts only

Component prices, posted anywhere in Australia

For people doing the work themselves. Everything here is stock we have handled and tested, not drop-shipped from a warehouse nobody has visited.

Component Detail Price
3 inch bi-LED projector pair Shroud not included, no wiring loom in the box $395
2.5 inch mini projector pair Best fit for tight housings, comes with retaining nuts $310
Shroud pair Standard round or square profile, black or chrome $55
Canbus module Per lamp. Needed on most post-2010 European cars $45
Butyl sealant roll Enough for both lamps, 6 metre roll $18
Retainer clip set Common sizes in stock, bring the broken one in to match $28
H4 relay loom Fused, plug and play, no cutting the factory harness $65
Replacement lens pair Polycarbonate, clear, sized to suit common housings $180
DRL driver module Suits most aftermarket daytime running strips $95
Bench time Odd jobs, fabricating, diagnostics, per hour $95

Freight is $14.50 flat for a standard parcel anywhere in Australia, and it comes off the total once the cart passes $300. We pack lenses in closed cell foam and tape the box corners, because a projector that arrives out of square is no use to anybody. If you are ordering from outside the country, ring first and we will work out the parcel cost before you pay.

Bundles

Three packages that save a little

The same work as above, grouped so you do not pay twice for the housing to come apart and go back together.

Night commuter

$285

Restoration pair, fresh butyl reseal on both lamps and a proper beam alignment on the wall. Saves $28 against booking the parts separately.

  • Wet sand and UV clear
  • Butyl reseal both lamps
  • Beam alignment on the wall

Bench standard

$740

2.5 inch retrofit with shroud, canbus modules for both sides and full calibration. Saves $105 on the individual parts.

  • Mini projector pair with shrouds
  • Two canbus modules
  • Wall and road calibration

Full rebuild

$1,140

New lens, new projector, new seal and tab repair, with the 24 month warranty attached. No discount here, because the bench time is already in the number.

  • Lens, projector and seal replaced
  • Cracked tabs repaired
  • 24 month warranty
The fine print

What costs extra, and what never does

We would rather put this on the page than surprise you at the counter. Nothing in the right column has ever been charged to a customer, and it is not going to start now.

Charged separately

  • Removing a housing that has been glued shut with silicone instead of butyl
  • Repairing wiring that has been cut and twisted by a previous owner
  • Replacing a ballast or DRL driver that failed during the job
  • Freight on parts orders, at the flat rate shown above

Never an extra charge

  • Removing the old sealant and cleaning the channel
  • Beam calibration on the wall and the road
  • Handing back every part that came off the car
  • A written quote before the housing is opened

Warranty terms and the refund process live in the Terms and Conditions and the Refund Policy. Both are short. Both are written so a normal person can follow them.

Booking

How a paid job runs

Five steps from your first call to the keys going back in your hand.

01

Send photos and the model year

Front, back and a shot of the plug. This is free and it usually tells us whether the housing has room for a projector before you book anything.

02

Fixed quote in writing

Sent the same day in most cases, with the price from this list attached to your car rather than a generic estimate.

03

Deposit holds the bay

A $150 deposit books the day. It comes off the total and it is refundable up to 48 hours before the booking.

04

Bench day

Most retrofit jobs are one day. Restoration is done in three hours and can usually wait while you are in town.

05

Balance on collection

Card, cash or bank transfer. The invoice includes the warranty terms, and the old parts go home with you in a box.

06

Check in at six months

We ring you once, briefly, to ask whether the beam still sits where it should. You are not obliged to come in.

Common questions

Things people ask about the price

If your question is not here, ring the shop. Michelle has answered all of these a few hundred times and will not talk down to you.

Because half the setup time is spent taping up a lamp and mixing polish, and that only happens once when both sides come in together. A single lens costs us nearly the same to prepare, so the pair rate covers the shared work.

On most post-2010 European cars and a good number of newer utes, yes. Without one the dash throws a bulb warning or the lamp pulses at idle. At $45 each it is cheaper than a second visit, so we fit them rather than trying the job without and hoping.

You can, at $95 an hour with an estimate of four to six hours for a pair. Two things though. We cannot warranty the projector if we did not supply it, and if it does not fit the housing we still charge for the time it took to find that out.

It becomes a tab repair, which is inside the full rebuild price and is quoted before we go ahead. If we cause the damage through carelessness, the repair is on us. That has happened twice in fifteen years and both times we covered it without argument.

Yes, up to 48 hours before the booking, in full, no questions asked. Inside 48 hours we keep it if the bay cannot be filled, and we will tell you honestly whether it was. Full wording sits in the Refund Policy.

The page gets updated when supplier costs move, which happens maybe once a year. A quote already in your inbox holds for 30 days regardless of what the page says afterwards.

Payment and freight

Card and bank transfer for both fitted work and parts. Cash is fine at the counter. Invoices come by email the same day, and the receipt lists every part so you know what you paid for.

Freight is $14.50 flat, free over $300. Orders placed before 1 pm on a weekday usually leave the same afternoon. Anything ordered after that goes out the next morning.
